Adding this for Mike, thanks for sending this over!
"A good book to recommend on this subject is “The Information Diet”. It’s written by a self-professed liberal, but he had no axe to grind nor agenda to promote other than we have become a nation with ‘tunnel vision’ in regards to where we get our “news” from and how that has led us to where we are today. "
What a mess! News, what a load. I have little patience for big box media outlets. Not sure when media started to drift to all editorials and not the facts. I don't care for your personal thoughts announcer nor do I want to see your pancake makeup in HD. Sensationalism is not reporting. I think back to the scenes in All the President's Men...searching for a 2nd source before running a story. REAL journalism. The internet has become an echo chamber of your own thoughts channeled thru google. I verify everything and its brutal. Objectivity is dead. The twitter verse is a hell hole. STAY OFF MY LAWN! I just had a stroke thinking about this.
Its funny, but with the way people consume news these days, I am not so distraught about the idea that objectivity is dead so much as being honest about where you stand. Being right or left of center doesn't make you evil.
I just want journalists to be open, "Hey, I am best friends with AOC or I am best friends with Rush Limbaugh... now here is the way I see this story..."
